ISM manufacturing PMI increased to 51.7 in October

The Institute for Supply Management’s US manufacturing PMI for October came in better than expected, indicating a continued expansion in manufacturing sector.

Headline PMI number rose from 51.5 to 51.7, better than market expectation of 51.0.

New orders rose from 52.3 to 54.2, while export fell from 48.5 to 48.0. Inventories fell from 50.5 to 50.0, which brings new orders minus inventories up to 4.2. Meanwhile, prices index fell from 58.0 to 55.0, and employment fell from 54.7 to 52.1.
